Ah, baseball. My favorite time of year. The Yankees kicked off their Grapefruit League games with a 5-5 tie against the Phillies because you can have those in Spring Training. As is the norm for a ST game, there were lots of substitutions and multiple pitching changes, as you’re not going to have your ace firing fastballs for all nine innings. Unless your ace is Sandy Koufax circa 1965, in which case I’d like to see the time machine you’re clearly hiding from everyone else. The standout player in this afternoon’s game was Aaron Judge, who hit a 3-run HR in the top of the 9th to help bring the Yankees to within one run of tying the game. I wasn’t too thrilled about the two errors, just because I don’t like sloppy baseball no matter the time of year, but there’s time of course, to work out all the kinks.
We play the Phillies again tomorrow afternoon, and I’m hoping for a slightly better result to that game than we had with this one. A win is always nice, fellas. A win is always nice.
