Musically sound.

I talked about this in an earlier blog post, but when it comes to music, I’ll listen to just about anything.  I’ve got literally everything from acid jazz to whatever you call the stuff Sigur Ros does.  There’s very little I won’t at least give half a chance.  The few things I don’t care for are current country, heavy metal, and all that Top 40 pablum on the radio consisting of the likes of Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, One Direction, and/or anyone else in that vein.  I do like some recent stuff Taylor Swift has done, and while I can’t stand her persona (she’s way too goddamn twee for me), she’s one hell of a lyricist.  I’ll give her that.  Blank Space, Style, Wildest Dreams…those are solid songs.  Good on you, T-Swizzle. I know that last bit kind of flies in the face of everything that preceded it, but a lot of the stuff you hear on Top 40 radio right now isn’t for people like me.  I’m 33, not a teenager/young adult.  When I was a teenager, I listened to NSYNC and Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera like every other teenage girl I knew, and some of the artists I listen to now that were around at the time (or had been around a long time by then), I wouldn’t have been caught dead listening to because it was “old people” music.  Your tastes change as you grow.  I still like listening to NSYNC and Britney and Christina, but I’m much more likely to listen to Miles Davis or Dave Brubeck now, than I am anything else.  I don’t think any Belieber alive even knows who those two men are.

That’s pretty much like me. I listen to all kinds of music, but yeah, not a big fan of the current pop stuff. But, you were right about Swift. There is just something about her song writing. The same goes with current country. I’m partial to the older stuff. I don’t listen to a lot of it, but I won’t turn it off if it comes on.
I like jazz, too. Coltrane, Miles Davis…
My shuffle on Pandora is all over the place.

I talked about this in that other blog post as well, but I prefer older, classic country as well far more than the current stuff. Gimme some Merle or some Johnny or some Marty, and I’m happy. My dad loves that particular era of country music and got me into it.
