22 down, ___ more to go.

Back in February, my gall bladder started acting up.  I’m pretty sure I have gallstones, but as I have neither money, nor insurance, I can’t see a doctor about it, much less go to the hospital and have the damn thing surgically removed.  I have enough debt to worry about without adding tens of thousands of dollars more to it.  As such, I radically changed my diet, cutting out nearly all the sugar I had been eating, more salt/fat/cholesterol than I’d cut out previously, and started exercising more.  Since then, I’ve lost 22 pounds.  I weigh myself once a month, on a Friday morning after I wake up, and it’s really neat to look down at the scale and see a smaller number than the last time.  I’ve been losing between 3-4 pounds a month, and while I still have a little bit further to go to get to my first target weight, I’ve already noticed things that show me I’m moving in the right direction.  Clothes I couldn’t wear before because they weren’t comfortable, I now can wear.  A lawn chair I had a hard time sitting in comfortably is something I can now use without issue.  Stuff like that.  Would I love to be losing 10 pounds a month?  Sure, but that’s not healthy, and if I don’t want the weight to come back, I have to do it right, which I think I am.

That’s fantastic! keep it up! I try to run a couple of times a week, it gets easier. It also becomes more enjoyable believe it or not.
