My brain has always been a font of knowledge that doesn’t really have any practical, real world applications. By that I mean, useless trivia. Years ago, my sister and I used to go to this sports bar/restaurant type place to do trivia on Friday nights, and we’d order a few appetizers, some soda, and then basically kick all kinds of ass. We won money, gift cards, sports tickets, you name it. This was before the era of the smartphone, so no one could pull out their iPhone or Android and Google the answer. If you didn’t know it, you didn’t know it. We had so much fun. I’d love for us to do that again, but at the moment, we don’t have the funds to pull it off. We especially did well with sports trivia, doubly so if it was baseball trivia. I love baseball, and know really obscure shit, like the name of the midget Bill Veeck sent to the plate for the Cleveland Indians back in the 1940s to help drum up interest in the game during WWII or what Carl Hubbell was most known for.
Are any of you good at trivia contests? Have you ever participated in any and won anything?
