Neat freak.

I’m not OCD, though my friends/family will sometimes joke that I am. I hate mess, and I hate clutter. I spend 30 minutes making my bed because I want to make sure it looks neat, since it sits in the middle of the room, and it’s the first thing you see when you walk past my door. I admit it’s ridiculous, I’m just going to sleep in it and mess it up, but until I actually do sleep in it, I want it neat. All my books/CDs/DVDs/albums are in alphabetical order by artist (or author), as it makes it easier for me to find something right away instead of hunting for it. The clothes in my closet are hung up according to type, with dress pants, dress shirts, tank tops, and t-shirts going from left to right. Again, that makes it easier to find stuff.

Is any of that weird to you? I’m not so anal that I can’t abide crumbs on the table or a single hair on a counter, but in the main, I like things to be clean.

Oh gosh, I am the complete opposite! Makes me feel a tad bit guilty…

My house, not so much. I hate, hate, hate cleaning the kitchen. When I get the wild hair, I will go nuts cleaning (like I did this weekend — sweep, mop, baseboards, spackling old holes, washed my bedding, pillows, rugs). My mom and grandmother (who seem to believe my merit as a woman is based on how clean my house is) call me a slob. I’m a realist and a utilitarian lol. My office is another story. Clutter will distract me and I keep everything very organized and tidy or else I will get off track making it organized and tidy. Like right now, I have wayyyyy too many papers on my desk and it’s driving me nuts. But we’re not short staffed anymore, so I can engage in some OCD projects that make me feel good.

I have OCD only on certain things and cleaning dishes is not one of them! However, cleaning them in groups (spoons, forks, knives, big plates to little plates) is something that must be done. It may take me days but I still do it. I am learning to live and work it in my life. Please don’t reply with a comment that is not even ha ha ha ha -Bruce
