Who am I?

I was born in Chicago, and grew up on the North Side, first in the Logan Square neighborhood, then Albany Park.  My family moved to Georgia in 2001 where I graduated from Georgia State University with a degree in Marketing, and we moved to North Carolina in 2008. I have younger sister who is a Middle Grades Education teacher, currently specializing in 7th grade English…so big props to her, I could never do that.

What drives me?

For starters, I’m very motivated by passionate people. If I’m surrounded by people who really love what they’re doing, I strive to emulate that. I’m also a perfectionist, and if I can’t get something right the first time I try it, I push and push until I can. It’s something that can either inspire you or annoy you, I guess it depends on whether or not you like me. Education is a big thing for me, and most of the people I associate with in real life are college grads. I read about 4 or 5 books a week, sometimes more or less depending on how much work I have to do.

What annoys me?

Pushy people. I don’t care what your gig in life is, if you think your way is the only way…..stay clear of me. It’s the only way I can keep myself from snapping and smacking a bitch. Ignorant people are next up. If you think Obama is a Socialist or that he wasn’t born in the US, avoid me. If you think McDonalds is health food, avoid me. If you think reading is for “nerds” and that what you know is all you need to know, avoid me. I don’t like people that purposefully limit themselves for no good reason.

Why should you read this?

Well…..because what else are you going to do? That, and I think people should get to know the person behind the words. Also, to paraphrase the late, great George Carlin…..if anything I’ve said here has offended you….by all means….go @#$! yourself.  ;-D

I had the privilege of seeing George Carlin live on January 28th, 1988. I remember that exact date, not because I’m a savant of any sort, but because I gave birth to my daughter the next day. I laughed myself into labor!
I’m not offended by anything you say. In fact, I’m going to follow you! 🙂

My husband’s family is in the Chicago area. I’ve been there a couple times and really enjoyed it. (Once in summer and fall- preferred Nov.)
