Oh boy. Let me tell you about a cover that is so atrocious, it’ll make you doubt the existence of God, if you’re not already a non-believer. There’s this band called The Scissor Sisters. They suck. Beyond that, they did a cover of Comfortably Numb.

Let me say that one more time; they did a cover of Comfortably Numb. A song that should never, ever, EVER be covered by ANYONE EVER, was absolutely slaughtered. I mean, butchered. I’m talking field dressed like a moose killed by Sarah Palin on a Red Bull bender. The first time I heard it, I actually felt momentarily nauseous. The vomit was rising. It was right there at the back of my throat. I couldn’t believe the nerve, the gall of these people. Why couldn’t they have destroyed some song by a band no one likes? I suppose I should be grateful they didn’t attempt Wish You Were Here, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, or even Money, but Comfortably Numb is frickin’ verboten. You don’t touch it. I made the mistake of reading some of the YouTube comments under the video a while back, and felt depressed at the number of people who either thought they’d written the song or thought their cover was better the original. How tone deaf and musically challenged do you have to be to think a disco cover of a Pink Floyd song is in any way, shape, or form “good”? I know I’m risking encouraging the wrath of people for sounding like a music snob, but I don’t care. Some shit is just not okay. Because I want all of you who haven’t heard it before to suffer just like I’ve suffered, here you go —
